"It has been such a pleasure working with Maid on the Moon to get a beautiful, custom piece of art!
We were looking for a stained-glass fireplace screen large enough for our 5-foot-wide fireplace opening that would also be in keeping with the vintage style of our home. Searching online, we came upon designs from Maid on the Moon and fell a little bit in love. We thought it was a long shot having a glass panel this large made and shipped across the country, but we had to ask. Katie was friendly and helpful regarding our inquiry.
When I first talked to Mike about what we were thinking and the logistics of getting it to us in one piece, I could tell he knew what he was doing and would be thoughtful about the best way to design, create and transport the screen. We were not disappointed!
From start to finish, communication from Maid on the Moon was excellent. We knew they had a waiting list, but they kept us informed while we waited. Once design started, we were given detailed information on the construction of the piece, the materials being used, the exact design and expected timing.
Mike really listened and asked great questions on that first phone call. The initial design presented to us was exactly what we had in mind, but better! He really captured the graceful, flowing, Art Nouveau feeling we wanted. We loved that he included special details, including a vintage 1920’s jewel. We loved the use of iridescent, opalescent, textured and beveled glass, and the composition of those elements.
Mike coordinated with a metal worker to create a sturdy, well-built frame for the screen. He used his contacts to secure suitable air freight to ensure the fire screen would arrive here undamaged. His crating and packing were very well thought out to ensure a good outcome for the glass. It arrived here in perfect condition.
The finished piece is magnificent; even better than we had pictured from seeing the design and knowing the materials. We are delighted! In a room with an 8-foot-tall mantle and 22-foot-tall ceilings, it stands out as a showpiece.
